Out of the night that dazzles me,

나를 압도하는 밤은

Bright as the sun from pole to pole,

온통 햇살 같은 눈부심

I thank the God I know to be

나는 내가 아는 하나님께 감사하노라

For Christ the conqueror of my soul.

내 영혼의 정복자이신 그리스도를 주셨음을

Since His the sway of circumstance,

그 분이 환경을 지배하기 때문에

I would not wince nor cry aloud.

난 움츠리거나 소리내어 울지 않았다.

Under that rule which men call chance

사람들이 운명이라고 하는 것의 지배에도

My head with joy is humbly bowed.

기쁨에 찬 내 머리는 겸손히 숙이노라

Beyond this place of sin and tears

죄와 눈물의 이 땅을 넘어

That life with Him! And His the aid,

그와 함께하는 삷! 그는 나의 도움

Despite the menace of the years,

오랜 재앙의 세월이 흘러갈지라도

Keeps, and shall keep me, unafraid.

견디어낼 수 해주시기에 두려움에 떨지 않을 것이다.

I have no fear, though strait the gate,

비록 문이 좁을지라도 두렵지 않노라

He cleared from punishment the scroll.

죄가 아무리 많을지라도 씻어내 주셨기에

Christ is the Master of my fate,
